Taigh na Teud was set up in 1985 by Christine Martin with a book and cassette of harp music. The success of this project was so encouraging that the company expanded rapidly with the Highland Tunes for the fiddle series and the well known Ceilidh Collections. Christine Martin is both a fiddler and clarsach player and a well known teacher of both these instruments in the Highlands. She develops the new material for the books, commissions new authors, and organises the printing and graphics side. Alasdair Martin is sales manager and in charge of despatch. Ronan Martin is web designer and I.T. advisor to the company. The company operates a mail order business for the books and albums from a Skye croft but visits to the premises are welcome by prior arrangement.
The new playscottishmusic.com site has been developed as part of a BTP (Business Transfer Partnership) with Napier University and Taigh na Teud (www.scotlandsmusic.com) to produce a sister site promoting downloadable Scottish music. This new innovative site specialises in multi angle video tuition to make learning instruments easier. We gratefully acknowledge funding towards this website and project from Skye and Lochalsh Enterprise. The project was part-financed by the European Union.
The site was developed by Felix Ruthenberg with design by Ronan Martin.
